Newark basin cross sections

Cross sections of the Newark basin. A-A' and B-B' are the end-points of the cross sections (vertical slices) through the Newark basin. The cross sections immediately beneath the map are shown at the same scale as the geologic map; those in the lower figure are enlarged. The border fault and major internal faults (Flemington-Furlong and Hopewell faults) dip to the southeast; bedding generally dips to the northwest. Post-rift strata pinch out near the edge of the Newark basin. No vertical exaggeration means that the horizontal and vertical scales are the same. Modified from Schlische (1992) and Withjack et al. (2020, 2022).   Cross sections of the Newark basin
