Mazvita Chikomo, a graduate student in Earth and Planetary Sciences, has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting and uplifting the next generation of diverse scientists through her leadership and outreach. Over the past two years, she co-founded and served as a facilitator for Rutgers’ African Graduate Students Affinity Group, creating a vital community space that fosters connection, mentorship, and shared experiences for African graduate students across the university. In addition, Mazvita extended her impact beyond Rutgers by serving as a panelist for the African Students Union at the College of Wooster, where she shared her experiences as an African graduate student and offered guidance and encouragement to prospective scholars. Through these efforts, she is helping to build more inclusive pathways into science, while inspiring future researchers to see themselves represented and supported within the academic community.
