Congratulations to EPS major, Amelia Ascione, who has been accepted to do an internship with the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) this summer. Amelia will be working with Dr. Rachel Slank to investigate lava tubes and subsurface cavities on the Moon using thermal inertia and temperature maximum to minimum ratios. These subsurface features are of scientific importance because they provide natural shelter from radiation, space weathering, and meteoritic bombardment, making them potential future sites for human habitation and exploration. We all look forward to hearing the results of Amelia's work!
