Congratulations to Ria Sarkar who was selected as 1 of 4 recipients for 2020 Loeblich and Tappan Student Research Award. Ria was awarded $3,000 to fund research for her Master's thesis titled "A Tale of Two Drifts: Using Planktonic Species Counts and Benthic Foraminiferal Assemblages to Evaluate the Variations in Deep Water Formation at Eirik and Gardar Drifts." This grant is given to Cushman Foundation members in memory of Alfred R. Loeblich, Jr. and Helen Tappan to support undergraduate and graduate student research on any aspect of living or fossil foraminifera or other protists, such as diatoms, coccolithophorids, dinoflagellates, acritarchs, or radiolaria.
