Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences

emilyEmily received her MS from Rutgers (2012) and a PhD from Baylor (2015). She did post-doctoral research at Georgia State Univ. (2016-17) and Univ. of Michigan (2017-2018) collaborating with Naomi Levin and Ben Passey. Emily’s research is cutting edge working at the interface of sedimentology, soil science, climate change and isotope geochemistry. The work includes measurements of triple oxygen isotopes (D17O), clumped isotopes (D47), traditional carbon and oxygen isotope distributions (d13C, d18O), bulk soil geochemistry and mineralogy to develop a proxy for paleo-aridity among other environmental records. She recently obtained a competitive CAREER award from NSF. She is an Assistant Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Houston.
